    The Beeswax Wrap Co.

    The Beeswax Wrap Co. was founded by Carly and Fran, two women from England who have been living plastic-free lives since 2017. They started this lifestyle out of concerns about the effects of chemicals from plastic packaging on the health of their family members. The harmful effects of plastic on the environment also played a major role in this.

    In their search for alternatives to plastic, according to them, one product was missing: an alternative to plastic and aluminum foil. That is how they came up with the idea to make their own food wraps from beeswax. The creation of The Beeswax Wrap Co. became a fact.

    The making of ..

    The food wraps are still handmade in Stroud Gloucestershire, England, from locally sourced beeswax, organic jojoba oil, natural pine resin and organic GOTS certified cotton. These substances are naturally antiseptic, which means they keep bacteria off your food. The organic cotton also allows your food to breathe more. You will notice this, for example, if you wrap a piece of cheese in the food wrap, which will then 'sweat' much less than if you would cover it with plastic. There is also a vegan version of the food wraps available, which is used instead of beeswax and was of vegetable origin.

    In addition to reducing plastic waste and food waste, The Beeswax Wrap Co. also committed to other goals. For example, they are an official 'B-Corporation', which means that as a company they meet high standards in terms of transparency, social entrepreneurship and the balance between profit and impact.
