After a bitterly cold winter, with temperatures staying below zero for days on end, spring is finally on its way. We can see the thermometer slowly rising, and the clocks going forward gives spring a helping hand too. Alongside spring fever, you might also feel the urge for a spring clean starting to bloom. Unfortunately, cleaning products have been hit by inflation as well and are now 25% more expensive than a year ago. That means they've often risen in price even more than everyday groceries. But this depends on the type of cleaning product. While all-purpose cleaner has gone up in price, dishwasher tablets have barely risen and are regularly on offer too.

So how will you tackle your spring clean this year? We've listed the key points for you.

First of all, start by opening your doors and/or windows. Where we were doing everything we could to keep the warmth inside, it's now time to air the house out properly. Keeping everything shut tight gives mould the chance to settle in your home. Fresh air isn't just healthy, it puts you in a good mood straight away too!

Secondly, it's important to think carefully about the cleaning products you use. Products such as bleach and chlorine are extremely chemical and harmful, not only to the environment but also to your own health. They're often unnecessary, too. Green soap, soda crystals and cleaning vinegar are usually enough. What's more, strong products such as chlorine and bleach disinfect rather than actually clean.

Finally, it's important to think about the real dust traps. Your furniture, curtains, cushions, mattresses and so on are real dust collectors. As well as beating them out, it's a good idea to sprinkle them with bicarbonate of soda. Let it soak in for a while and then hoover it up. You'll be surprised how much dirt you get rid of!

Do you tackle everything in one go, or break the cleaning up into parts? However you go about it, think of your health and the environment when you clean. We've listed the best eco-friendly cleaning products for you:

The Estonian company Mulieres was founded when the children of Merilyn, the company's owner, turned out not to tolerate conventional chemical cleaning products. The need for an effective, natural detergent inspired her to create a product suitable for hypersensitive and allergy-prone skin. At first she made the detergent only for her own use, but friends and family soon started using it too. Today, Mulieres cleaning products are used by thousands of families around the world. As much as 80% of all production goes abroad!
