Duurzaam schoonmaken - Producten getest met Linne

A few quick tips for sustainable cleaning!

  • Use eco-friendly cleaning agents
  • Use sustainable materials
  • Wash dishes by hand instead of using the dishwasher
  • Wash at 30 degrees
  • Pay attention to water usage. Do you need to fill the bucket with warm water? See if you can catch the cold water that comes out of the tap first to water your plants.

The product reviews

Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the chance to try out various products from the brands BioMatt, CC Hansen, and Skosh. I will briefly touch upon each product, but all in all, I am most satisfied with the products from Biomatt, which is something I didn't expect beforehand.

Skosh all-purpose cleaner

Skosh cleaning tablets

You hear about them more and more often: cleaning products where you can fill an entire bottle with a small tablet and then only need to purchase new tablets. It’s ideal because you save a lot of money, transport, and energy, and the products you use are also well-concentrated, as an average bottle of cleaning agent in the store contains much more water than you’d think at first glance. Besides that, I really like how the bottles spray and they have a simple look, so you could even leave them out in the kitchen or bathroom.

CC Hansen cleaning accessories

Dish brush

One of the CC Hansen products I got to try was the dish brush. In itself not very special, but I am personally into the boho style and it fits perfectly with that. Furthermore, it just depends on what you like to wash dishes with, I noticed while living together ;) For example, my boyfriend likes very simple dish brushes, while I prefer these types of brushes. Good thing I do the dishes, haha.

Toilet brush

We also got to try the toilet brush from CC Hansen. A good, nice toilet brush and a great alternative to the toilet brushes you can buy at large retail chains. It is plastic-free and also looks nice in the bathroom or toilet. Especially if, like me, you love boho ;).

Bottle brush

Something you don't quickly think to purchase when moving out on your own is a bottle brush. Now, we love drinking water with fruit in it, and it’s handy if you can properly clean the bottle too. That I was able to test this from Grace is green came at the perfect time. It does its job well and is sustainable.

Dish cloths

From various friends, we received useful items for the house as part of our starter pack, including dish cloths. So, we already had quite a few. First of all, the CC Hansen dish cloths look very cute. They do their job, but what I personally find a downside is that they pull quite crooked after being in the washing machine. It doesn't change the effectiveness of the cloths, but I did want to mention it.

Cleaning and dish cloths

In terms of items, we try to throw away as little as possible at home, and honestly, the cloths are great and pleasant to use, but I literally used one cloth to try it out and write about it. If you currently use a lot of disposable cloths, this is a perfect alternative. We don't use them much ourselves, but luckily they are now in the cupboard in case we need them!

Scrubbing brush

Honestly? When I received the scrubbing brush, I thought for a moment: what exactly should I do with this? But once we started using it for its intended purpose, I was sold. You can clean fruits and vegetables very well with the brush. And it really works great. In the future, we (or at least I, and Timon supports me) want to start a small vegetable garden. With the scrubbing brush, the fruits and vegetables can be cleaned perfectly when they are fresh out of the soil!

Biomat bucket and bags

When we received the bucket, I was immediately enthusiastic. It is super compact and the bags fit perfectly inside. I wanted to put it in the kitchen cabinet so we could easily throw away green waste. Timon didn't quite see it yet. “Won't that smell?” But because of the good ventilation, you really don't smell anything. Even Timon is sold, so the bucket is still in the same place and it’s truly the best tip I can give anyone. So, if you have to make choices because you're a student on a budget, for example? Then this is one of the products that I would say: make this choice!

Conclusion

Just as I was quickly able to make switches in the bathroom at the beginning of my search for a more sustainable life, I have now noticed that this can also be done very easily in the kitchen. As long as you take small steps, you will get very far, and sustainable products can be just as good, or perhaps even better, than non-sustainable products that you secretly know are full of junk.
