    Hevea

    Hevea was founded in Copenhagen by Terese Hoffeldt, who just after she became a mother, walked around with a question: how can I take even better care of my daughter and the planet where she lives? She saw that plastic was everywhere in baby products: in toys, pacifiers and much more that she gave to her daughter during the day. When she discovered the possibilities of natural rubber, she knew she had found the alternative and started her company.

    Why natural rubber?

    Historically, HEVEA started out as an unanswered question: How can we take better care of our children and our planet? That makes everything pretty simple for us: we were born out of the urge to do better. To show that our way of acting and living in the world makes a difference for ourselves and for our children - the citizens of tomorrow. Due to the lack of natural options for our future generations and the choices we have to make, we have become accustomed to Hevea Brasiliensis - natural rubber - and this has formed the basis of our mission and purpose from the very beginning.

     

    To contribute

    Hevea contributes in several ways:

    • Packaging: all packaging of Hevea products is FSC certified. The transparent 'windows' on the Hevea packaging are from the only company that makes 100% biodegradable plastic.
    • Upcycling: The company is researching the upcycling of old pacifiers. They have found a way to make new products from this, such as toy balls. Besides making new, sustainable products, consciously dealing with waste flows is also very important!
    • Recycling: waste streams that can no longer be upcycled into new products are recycled.
    • Rubber tree: the rubber tree has a straight, thick trunk and grows very quickly, making it an efficient production crop. The tree can be grown in a sustainable way for up to 35 years!
    • Safety: Hevea does its best to ensure that every product is of the highest quality and meets strict safety requirements. The products are tested by companies such as SGS, Intertek and Bureau Veritas to meet various safety requirements. This means that, for example, the pacifiers have been extensively tested to ensure that the nozzle does not come off the teat.
