Real Nappy Incentive Schemes

Many local authorities around the UK want you to Go Real, offering cash back schemes and other incentives to encourage you to switch to real nappies. Each council differs on what they offer, so we have listed some of these incentive schemes below.

This list is not exhaustive because Councils change how they do things on a regular basis, so we advise that you contact your local council if you're not sure. Just ask for the department that deals with waste and recycling.

Available Cash Back Schemes

Anglesey

A local Credit Union scheme operates in Anglesey, which is designed to help with the upfront cost of real nappies. More details can be found at www.realnappies-wales.org.uk

Bedfordshire

Bedfordshire Council offer a cash back scheme, that allows locals to claim £25 back when they spend over £50, either on real nappies or a real nappy laundry service.

Berkshire

Currently no information held. See www.westberks.gov.uk for contact information.

Birmingham

Spend £50 on real nappies and get £30 back. The council run a Nappy library where locals can borrow several different nappies for 7-10 days. See www.birmingham.gov.uk for more information.

Bracknell Forest Borough Council

Bracknell will pay £30 to any parents using reusable nappies or a nappy washing service. This is a one off and is available in two amounts of £15. Please go to their website for more information. 

Bradford

Free nappy trial pack if you are pregnant or have a baby under 6 months - www.bradford.gov.uk

Bristol

Bristol offer a cashback scheme but we do not have the exact details. Please visit their website for more information.

Buckinghamshire

£30 cashback with free nappy information pack. Also offer real nappy exchanges for 2nd hand nappies and a health professional nappy toolkit. Click here for more information.

Cambridgeshire

Cleveland

Cumbria

£45 vouchers for one child under 18 months or £70 vouchers for two children under 18 months with the purchase of real nappies. Check out the Cumbria Real Nappy Campaign for more information.

Derbyshire

£5 cash back, plus refundable £50 for a real nappy trial pack to try for up to two weeks. There are only four packs available for each allocated area. See www.derbyshire.gov.uk for more information.

Devon

Trial kits are available to borrow for a month. Parents in Teignbridge, Torbay, South Hams and Plymouth who borrow a trial kit can benefit from a 20% discount to help with their first purchase of real nappies. Check out www.recycledevon.org for more information.

Dorset

Durham

East Sussex

The council will loan packs of reusable nappies, available for £40. See their website for more information.

Lancashire

Lanacashire Council offer £45 vouchers for one child under 18 months or £70 for two or more children under 18 months to go towards the cost of real nappies. This is something that can also be obtained while you're pregnant.

Leicestershire

Receive £30 cashback when buying real nappies. The council also offer a nappy trial kit containing 4 different types of nappies, which you can borrow for two weeks for £150 refundable deposit. Also see the Leicestershire Real Nappy Network, with regular nappuccino’s.

Leeds
